mydesign-1This week I had a short, but effective business trip to St. George, UT.

For those that have followed Rules of Success (or know me personally) have heard me discuss with excitement the progression of Urbia Exchange; my newest foray back in to the real estate world and into distressed assets.

My trip to St. George was for meetings associated with this venture. There was a lot of time spent in the car and conversing over meals. Overall the trip was productive.

The effects of this productivity you’ll hear about on Rules of Success and the pages of this blog soon enough. I reference it because in the quiet of my drive I had a few thoughts arrive that became the inspiration for this post.

I ask you..

Who are the real one percent?

Some know this, some don’t… but I have stepped into the coaching and consulting space in the past few months. I only have a few clients and at this point I’ve only been working in the one on one capacity.

In the process of meeting and developing these relationships I have heard some really tweaked ideas.

“Bryce, it’s easy for you to say that, you have time in your day to do what you want; like exercise and meditate. I don’t. I don’t have a single minute of my own.”

“I have a hard time with guys in the coaching space. Guy like “___________” because they’ll all full of shit. Nobody lives like that. It’s impossible unless you’re taking advantage of people.”

“You are never really in control of your life. You may think you are, but you’re not.”

And my personal favorite..

“Bryce, nobody who thinks this way has any money.”

All of these statements come from the falsehood that we don’t have a say in the quality of your lives. The falsehood that we can try to convinces ourselves that we do, but it’s a form of self hypnosis. Positive Choice + Action = Greatness isn’t as linear as the softies make it out to be.

It just simply not the case. You do have a say.

I remember the first time I let the idea of a thought having a creative impact on my results take root.

It was in 2007 and I had just started to learn to meditate. During my mediations I would get these crazy day dreams of a life of luxury and influence. I would rise from the meditation with an excited energy about me; thinking that it was possible.

Then I’d relive these day dreams in my professional life; in varying degrees achieving them.

Fast forward to today. The parts of that life that I didn’t have; I now have.

A solid, passionate relationship with my wife.

A body that is fit, healthy and strong.

A connect relationship with myself that guides my actions and acts as a compass for the decisions I make.

The difference was something I have been hammering about on Rules of Success for over a year.

You ready? Here is it.

WHEN YOU TAKE OWNERSHIP OF YOUR LIFE, YOUR LIFE CHANGES.

Most people don’t realize this.

These same people don’t understand this one simple fact:

Financial success is either fleeting and/or hollow if you aren’t fit in your body and connected in your soul.

In the past, I had money, but I didn’t have any of those other things I listed.

I was out of shape, spiritually disconnected and valued money first over everything. It’s been several years of reprogramming and hard life lessons that have lead me to see things through a different lens and effect my decisions profoundly.

The reason I bring this up now is that for the longest time I have been living in a bubble. And that’s a good thing.

Devoting my time to Rules of Success and it’s revenue streams (coaching, business development, etc.) I had created a circle of influence that included people that (for the most part) think the way I do.

There is a quote that reads “You will either have the pain of discipline or the pain of disappointment. Choose wisely.”

My circle has been people that understand this. People that are willing to block off time for getting clear and working on their bodies; even if a mess piles up while they step away. They draw a line in the sand and honor that line no matter what for their personal commitments. They understand that clarity and fitness are top priority and only after those are addressed do they step into their business and relationship pursuits.

As I’ve expanded my focus to include Urbia Exchange, I’ve started reaching out to former associates and reconnecting with old relationships.

In so doing, I’ve been reminded that there are a lot of people in the business world that are strictly driven by the dollar.

They are physically out of shape, have dysfunctional relationships and don’t really know themselves at all. Some of these people have a lot of money, but they live in the gray and do things that aren’t necessary illegal, but are in no way ethical. They view sales as a way to ‘extract money’ from their clients instead of an ‘exchange of value.’

I started to think, “How many people really understand how to balance their lives?”

And more importantly,

“How many people are willing to do what’s necessary to balance their lives?”

Which leads to the follow up thought,

“How many people have recognized their personal responsibility in all this and care to do the work every day to make a difference and balance their lives?”

It’s got to be less than one percent of the human race; right?

Changing the world is not a political or financial event.

It’s not a miracle.

Changing the world is a personal decision to expand your own life and that decision gets acted upon.

If you are reading this and want more connection and meaning in your life, start with this one simple step.

Define what you want.

Really define it. Be detailed. Leave no stone unturned.

What’s your life look like? What does it feel like? What are you involved in? What is important to you? What is your legacy? What type of (fill in the blank) do you want?

(I have a tool that can help you with this. If you’d like it, reach out to me).

Then…

Get clear about your worthiness to receive it.

No amount of planning or strategizing will get you there if you don’t understand your inherent worthiness for a great life.

Do you really understand that you’re worth it?

Do you understand that the world is a better place when you are in you’re “A” game?

Do you understand that playing small is to your detriment; not your benefit?

Think about it.

I will write more about this later, but I share this for two reasons.

1. If you’re one of those people that do the work and are experiencing a life worth living, I congratulate you. You are in the real one percent.

2. If you’re not, but you’d like to be.. It’s just a matter of execution. Reach out to me and we can chat about what it your next step.

The invitation is there; step into the one percent. There’s room.
